Specimen Collection

Specimen collection, such as a venipuncture for a lab draw or a urine specimen, can be documented in the Nursing Care tab under IV Access.

The Add/Edit IV Access Information window, found in Nursing Care, is where you document the process of performing venipuncture to obtain a lab specimen and/or collection of a urine specimen.

You first document the details of the procedure under Nursing Care. Then, under the Nursing Procedure tab, you add the procedure to the chart to capture the procedure code on the Charge Capture Report.
