Prescribe Oral Drugs Within a Regimen

Once a regimen is chosen to order for a patient, click the name of the medication to prescribe.

Complete Fill Method and Prescription Details

Select eRx and choose the pharmacy where the drug is to eventually be dispensed. This action does not order the drug. 

When a Preferred Pharmacy is documented in the Demographics section of the patient chart, it is selected by default.

When adding a prescription to a regimen order, the Print Rx - local form printer and Prescribe only - no print options only add the prescription to the order. Neither action prints or submits an actual prescription. The order is represented in the chart, but additional action is required to generate the prescription.

Select the Prescribing Location from the drop-down list.

After making modifications, click NEXT ORDER to advance to the next preselected medication in the regimen.

After updating all medications, click OK to advance to the Regimen Order screen.

Review / Save Regimen Order

Click REVIEW / SAVE to open the Order Review tab.

Order Review

If the order has triggered one or more alerts, the ALERTS button is enabled and the View Alerts panel is displayed. 

To acknowledge the alerts and sign the order, providers enter their Signing Pin

Non-providers entering the order On Behalf Of the provider must acknowledge the alert to save the order, which will be routed to the provider's Sign Orders Queue.

When entering a regimen On Behalf Of a provider, click SAVE ORDERS to complete the regimen ordering process. 

For providers, click SIGN ORDERS to complete the regimen ordering process.

Issue the Prescription

To issue the prescription now, click YES.

To issue the prescription at a later time, click NO.

If you choose to issue the prescription now, you are taken to Medications, under Orders

To edit the prescription, click the medication name, then use the boxes to select the prescriptions to issue today.

When entering the order On Behalf Of a provider, click SAVE to send the order to the Sign Orders Queue for physician signing.

For providers at practices with eSign enabled, click SIGN & SAVE to simultaneously sign and save the order.

Issue the Prescription at a Later Time

If you clicked NO to issue the prescription at a later time, use the Issue Rx today option from the Flowsheet when ready to issue the prescription.

The medication order is displayed in the Flowsheet with an Rx icon next to it. The Rx icon means the prescription must be generated on the date the patient is to start taking it.

When it is time to issue the prescription, click the order to open the Options for Occurrence menu.

Click Issue Rx today to display the prescription order details.

Review the Prescription

In the prescription editor, review the dose and form information and update as needed. 

After making any updates, select the Fill Method, then click SAVE to generate the prescription.

View the Rx Icon

A prescription ordered on the same day as the regimen is indicated by a dog-ear. 

Click the order to see both the original order as well as the prescription, which is indicated by the Rx icon.
