Order Oral Chemotherapy
Oral chemotherapy regimens are ordered from the Orders > Regimens sub-tab.
Once the Diagnosis/Problem is selected, click SEARCH FOR REGIMENS.
Choose the Regimen Type
To order chemotherapy and other similar therapies, choose the Regimen Type of Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy/Targeted therapy/ Hormone.
Search for Regimens
Enter the drug name in the Filter Chemotherapies by search field to return a list of matching options.
Click SELECT next to the regimen you want to order to open the Patient Regimen Details window.
Enter Regimen Details
Enter all required Regimen Details then select OK to return to the regimen order to complete the prescription details.
Update Prescription Information
Update the prescription information as necessary for your patient.
Select Fill Method
The Fill Method options may vary based on the drug and state regulations.
When adding a drug to be prescribed within a regimen order, select eRx to set the location where the drug will eventually be dispensed.
The patient's Preferred Pharmacy documented in the Demographics tab will be the default. Use the drop-down arrow to select the correct pharmacy if there are multiple choices.
The Prescribing Location is required and can be selected or changed using the drop-down arrow.
After updating the prescription details, click OK to return back to the regimen order.
Review / Save
Click REVIEW / SAVE and return to the Order Review window.
Order Review
Click SIGN ORDERS or SAVE ORDERS (non-provider) to complete the ordering process.
Prescribing
You will be prompted if you want to issue the prescription(s) now.
Select Yes
Select Yes to move the medication to the Orders cart where SIGN/SAVE or SAVE (non-providers) will issue the prescription.
Select No
If you select NO, the oral chemo regimen is ordered but the prescription will need to be issued from the Flowsheet when the patient is ready to start taking the medication.
The chemotherapy medication will display as a prescription in the Flowsheet tab. The prescription will be visible on all Cycle/Days defined in the regimen order.
The medication order displays with Rx next to it in the Flowsheet tab.
Click on the drug dose to open the Options for Occurrence window.
Options for Occurrence
Edit Regimen Order allows you to change the regimen details if necessary.
Issue Rx for Today allows you to ePrescribe or renew the prescription. This action must be taken to ensure the patient gets their prescription filled.
Click Close to return to the Flowsheet.
Review the Order in the Flowsheet
After the prescription has been processed by either choosing to ePrescribe or Print, a green dog-ear symbol replaces the Rx next to the medication name to indicate that it has been issued.
