The eScript Settings section under Practice Preferences includes several settings to help your practice prescribe medications electronically.

Enable ePrescribing

Enable Specific eRx Message Types

Notifying a pharmacy of a new prescription (NewRx) is enabled by default.
Being notified when a pharmacy requests a prescription renewal (RxRenewal) is enabled by default.
To notify a pharmacy when a prescription is discontinued (CancelRx), check Enable CancelRx Messages to pharmacies. A pharmacy must also have this capability enabled to receive the message.
To be notified when a pharmacy fills a prescription (RxFill), check Enable RxFill Messages from pharmacies.
To be notified when a pharmacy requests a medication substitution (RxChange), check Enable RxChange Messages from pharmacies.

Other Settings

To require provider approval for an order created by an APP/MLP, check MLP Requires Supervising Physician. Required in some states.
To prevent sending an ePrescribe order to a fax-only pharmacy, check Block eRx to Fax-Only pharmacies.
To integrate a state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), check Enable PDMP Integration. (The ePrescribe Active preference must be checked.) This adds the VIEW PDMP REPORT button under Clinical Profile > Medications > Medication List and the VIEW REPORT button in the PDMP section when editing a specific medication.
To retain patient eRx History indefinitely, check Enable retention of eRx medication history. When unchecked patient eRx History is retained for up to 24 hours.

After changing any settings, click SAVE.
