Register for EPCS with ID.me
1. Resolve Special Cases
There are a few situations that may require special steps before you begin. Resolve these situations before continuing with the process.
To register a prescriber who does not have a DEA license, contact Tech Product Support.
If the prescriber's computer is not a US Oncology or McKesson computer, it may be necessary to establish a browser or Windows trust relationship with the Identity Proofing Provider and Ensora Health. If needed, contact Tech Product Support for help.
Check if your state requires specific documentation to be completed. Go to New York State’s Department of Health EPCS web page for their instructions (if you are registered with ROPES, you do not have to re-register).
2. iKnowMed Administrator Requests e-Prescribe Registration
Download and complete this PUR Form.
Create a ServiceNow request to register the Prescriber to e-prescribe with Surescripts, and attach the completed PUR Form to the request.
3. Prescriber Creates ID.me Wallet and Installs Authenticator App
As the prescriber, create your ID.me Wallet or add your work email to your ID.me Wallet.
You will use the ID.me Authenticator app to authenticate during registration and when prescribing. Install the ID.me Authenticator app.
4. Prescriber Confirms Their Details in iKnowMed
As the prescriber, if your Name in iKnowMed does not match your legal name or your DEA numbers are not correct in iKnowMed, then you will not be approved during identity proofing.
To confirm these details are correct in iKnowMed:
Confirm your Name (First, Middle, Last, and Suffix) is your legal name as it appears on your driver license or passport. If your Name does not match your legal name, follow these instructions to avoid functionality interruptions.
Confirm your DEA numbers are entered correctly in the DEA section.
5. Prescriber Begins Identity Proofing Process
To begin the identity proofing process, as the prescriber:
Under EPCS/eRx Settings, click EPCS Administration.
Verify your identity (the Registration Walk-Thru Video is informative) using Ensora Health and ID.me.
Let an EPCS administrator at your practice know you completed the identity proofing process and your EPCS registration is ready to be finalized.
6. iKnowMed Administrator Grants EPCS Rights
To grant the prescriber EPCS rights after they complete the identity proofing process, as an assigned EPCS Administrator:
Under EPCS/eRx Settings, click EPCS Administration.
7. Prescriber Creates an EPCS PIN and Authenticates
As the prescriber, finalize your registration (follow steps 5-9) by creating an EPCS PIN and authenticating with ID.me.
