EOM 4: Pain Assessment and Management Set
EOM4 is a composite of two measures:
4a: Pain Intensity Quantified and
4b: Plan of Care for Pain
Measure Description: EOM-4, the Pain Assessment and Management Set, is a composite measure that includes EOM4a, Oncology: Medical and Radiation - Pain Intensity Quantified, and EOM 4b, Oncology: Medical and Radiation - Plan of Care for Pain. Participants can earn up to 7 points for EOM-4a and up to 10 points for EOM-4b, for a total of 17 raw points for the EOM 4 composite measure (based on MIPS Benchmarks). The EOM program uses a 12-point scale to which they will apply a weight of 12/17 to each EOM participant's raw points obtained for EOM-4 composite.
Five step calculation process
Calculate EOM 4a Numerator and Denominator. Calculate Performance Rate.
Identify the number of visits from the
EOM 4a Numerator with no pain present and remove.
Identify the number of visits from the EOM 4a Numerator with pain present. This is now the EOM 4b Denominator.
Calculate EOM 4b Numerator using the EOM 4b Denominator (identified in Part 3). Calculate a Performance Rate for EOM 4b.
The Denominator for EOM 4a is the Denominator for the EOM 4 Composite. Visits identified in Part 2 and Part 4 are included in the Numerator for the EOM 4 Composite. Divide the Numerator by the Denominator to calculate the Performance Rate.
