Electronic Prior Authorization
Electronic Prior Authorizations can be made directly from iKnowMed for practices using CoverMyMeds (CMM). This reduces manual work and time to approve cycles, allowing treatment to proceed. All work is managed from the iKnowMed Insurance Authorization Worklist Queue and the CoverMyMeds application.
This integration is designed to:
Streamline sending medication orders to CoverMyMeds
Launch CoverMyMeds from iKnowMed
Write final payer decisions back into iKnowMed automatically
Prior Authorization Set Up
To use the Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA) functionality, complete the following setup steps in both CoverMyMeds (CMM) and iKnowMed.
In CoverMyMeds (CMM):
Verify Agreement. Confirm that the practice has an active agreement in place for the CoverMyMeds integration.
Complete Practice Setup.
Ensure the practice is fully configured within CMM.
Create User Accounts.
Create and assign user accounts for all applicable staff within CMM.
In iKnowMed:
The Practice Preferences setting of Electronic Prior Auth must be checked to activate this feature.
The Worklist Queues > Ins Auth/Fin Counseling user permission must be set to FULL.
Access CoverMyMeds
There are 3 ways to access CoverMyMeds (CMM) from iKnowMed:
From the Links menu in the top navigation,
from the patient Chart,
from the Ins. Auth/Fin. Counseling Queue.
