About Interface

The Interface area, accessible from the Admin menu, is where you maintain the interfaces with your practice's Demographics, Scheduling, and Lab systems.

Interface includes 4 sub-tabs:

  1. Manage Errors is where you find, diagnose, and resolve errored interface messages.

  2. Map Results/Orders is where you map lab results and orders received from your lab information system so that iKnowMed recognizes them.

  3. Configure Sources is where you map and unmap Attending Physicians, Ordering Physicians, and Resources.

  4. Configure Targets is only used by iKnowMed staff. Changes in this section can cause your practice's interfaces to fail. Contact the iKnowMed Help Desk, if you feel a change should be made in these sections.

Helpful Definitions

Interface Source lists the interfaces your practice has with lab and practice management systems.

Message Type refers to the type of message, i.e., APPOINTMENT, DEMOGRAPHICS, DOCUMENT, ORDER, RESULTS.

An error message has a Severity of either WARNING or ERROR. A WARNING indicates the original message has a potential problem but the message was accepted. ERROR indicates the original message was not accepted due to a problem.

On an error message, Message and Message Code show the reason for the WARNING or ERROR. Use this information to resolve the error.

Access Interface

To navigate to the Interface area, open the Admin menu can click Interface. There you are able to Manage Errors, Map Results/Orders, Configure Sources, and Configure Targets.
