Quick Sigs
A medication signature or Quick Sig is a feature that makes entering, interpreting, and dispensing simpler for pharmacy and clinical staff. A Quick Sig is a set of prefilled options for Form, Dose, Unit, Route, Frequency, Instructions, and other special requirements.
iKnowMed displays units according to the established default setting. Only one default may be designated when requesting Formula and Flat dose Quick Sigs. Without a default Quick Sig, values for Form, Dose, Unit, Route, Frequency, and Instructions are either manually selected or chosen using a generic Quick Sig. If Formula Quick Sig exists, regardless of any accompanying Flat dose Quick Sig, iKnowMed presents the default Flat dose unit when ordering.
Dose Form, Strength, and Unit
Form (Dose Form Desc): iKnowMed displays this value as the Form when ordering. Examples include:
2 mg reconstituted solution
50 mg/2 mL (25 mg/mL) solution
10 mg/mL solution
50 mg-10 mg/2 mL solution
3 × 10⁹ cells/mL
2 mg capsule
Unit (Dose Form UOM): iKnowMed displays this value as the Flat Dose Unit when ordering.
Inventory Unit: iKnowMed stores this information but does not display it when ordering.
Category and Research Type
Review and select the relevant medication Category from the available options. Indicate the Research Type by specifying whether the medication is Supplied by the sponsor, or Placebo, or Both.
Drug Name
iKnowMed displays the Brand or Chemical medication name first, followed by the Generic or Investigational medication name in parentheses.
Examples:
Generic: Acetaminophen Oral
Brand: Tylenol (Acetaminophen Oral)
Investigational: MPDL3280A invest IV
Chemical: Atezolizumab invest (MPDL3280A invest IV)
